[CLI] 1.0.1 RC1 now available for review

Simon Kitching
Hi All,

You can find Release Candidate 1 for CLI-1.0.1 at:
  http://people.apache.org/~skitching/cli_1_0_1/

This release is a fix for an issue where file commons-cli-1.0.jar on
ibiblio was overwritten some time ago with a snapshot of cli code.

This release contains just a few updates to the build process due to
changes to the standard jakarta-commons build process since cli-1.0 was
released. There are *no* changes of any sort to the actual code between
releases 1.0 and 1.0.1.

See the RC website or the RELEASE-NOTES.txt file within the downloads
for more information.

All feedback on this release candidate build is welcome. Please note,
however, that the goal is to get something as close to 1.0 as possible
in order to minimise problems for people upgrading from 1.0 to 1.0.1.
NB: Please reply to just *one* list; either commons-dev or commons-user.

If no issues are raised within the next 48 hours I will create a vote
thread to release CLI 1.0.1.

Note: This release is being done under the Apache 1.1 license, as the
goal is to make minimal changes to the 1.0 release. Feel free to debate
this if you wish, but be warned that if you push for the 2.0 license to
be used, then *you* will probably end up with the task of making that
change, and updating maven.xml, etc. as well as fielding any user
enquiries as to why the source files were changed between 1.0 and
1.0.1...

Regards,

Simon

Perhaps I should have been more explicit: currently, people using 1.0
via maven can't be entirely sure what version they actually compiled
against; it depends when maven downloaded and cached the jar as to
whether they got the good release or the snapshot.

By providing a 1.0.1 release that people can declare a dependency
against, this is resolved.

Regards,

Simon

Might I suggest a compromise?

Change just the top-level LICENSE.txt file to the the Apache 2.0
License, and leave all the references in the code alone.
