I agree that the problem is due to the order in which tests are run.

However the order in which junit runs tests is simply defined by the order in
which Class.getDeclaredMethods() returns them. And that's compiler/jvm specific.

So any test case class where the individual tests depend on order is
fundamentally broken. Not only will this test class need to be fixed, but most
of the others too :-(.

By the way, Jack, are you on a mission to test every commons library against
kaffe/classpath or are you just picking on me? :-)
