[Poll][VFS] Switch to Git

Bernd Eckenfels
Hello,

I would like to be able to use Git with the Apache Commons VFS repo. As
we agreed upon I call out the intention to do this and ask you for your
oppinion.

Now that we have the 2.1 release out of the way the switch wont affect
any planned steps.

Anybody opposed to this move? I will probably need a few days to come
back to this, so this poll with lazy consensus is open for at least 5
days.

Gruss
Bernd

[Result][VFS] Switch to Git

Bernd Eckenfels
In reply to this post by Bernd Eckenfels
Hello,

There was no objection to switching VFS project to Git as the primary
source control. Here are the people participated (I also vote +1):

Bernd Eckenfels
Gary Gregory
Dave Brosius
Woonsan Ko
Josh Elser
Ralph Goers
Jochen Wiedmann
Christopher

How to proceed? Open an Infra ticket?

Maybe start by searching the ML to see how [compress], [lang] and [math]
did it.

Also, please document this process so we can add it to the site or on the
wiki. Hm, maybe it's already on the wiki?

Yes, one ticket for moving to git and one more ticket for github
integration like the following example:
- https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-9961

The second one should be issued after the first one completes, I guess.
Also, please be aware that there should be minimal "freezing" time
because each repo (svn and git) should be set to read-only during the
migration and validations.

IIRC, it was updated already:
