[VOTE] Release Apache Commons BCEL based on RC1

Gary Gregory-3
We fixed a few bugs and added some enhancements since we released Apache
Commons BCEL 6.1, so I would like to release Commons BCEL 6.2.

Commons BCEL 6.2 RC1 is available for review here:
    https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/commons/bcel at svn revision:
23349

The tag is here:
    http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/proper/bcel/tags/BCEL_6_2_RC1/
(svn revision 1816763)
N.B. the SVN revision is required because SVN tags are not immutable.

Maven artifacts are here:

RE: [VOTE] Release Apache Commons BCEL based on RC1

Mark Roberts
In reply to this post by Gary Gregory-3
I have to vote -1 until 295 is fixed - this will force us to have a private version of bcel.

Mark,

Unless BCEL-295 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BCEL-295> is a
regression, I see no technical reason for a -1. What am I missing?

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Commons BCEL based on RC1

Looking at the release notes
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/commons/bcel/RELEASE-NOTES.txt, you
will see BCEL-295 is in this RC.

RE: [VOTE] Release Apache Commons BCEL based on RC1

Mark Roberts
In reply to this post by garydgregory
As far as the Daikon tool set is concerned, 295 is not a regression, it is a newly discovered fatal flaw.  We have already had to release a private version of BCEL, we were hoping that the next version would fix that.

Mark,

Unless BCEL-295 <https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/BCEL-295> is a regression, I see no technical reason for a -1. What am I missing?

Re: [VOTE] Release Apache Commons BCEL based on RC1

garydgregory
In reply to this post by Oliver Heger-3
The test calls the registryGetKeys Windows API and that throws an exception
because Java 9 is not installed on that machine. This is a bug in the test
only. Fixed in trunk. Not a showstopper IMO.

Agreed that this is not a blocker. Artifacts and site look good. You
will probably update the Release Information section on index.html.
There are some checkstyle and findbugs finding, but I assume nothing new

So +1
