There might be some licensing concerns regarding the patches attached to this issue.  The original source seems to have been taken from an academic friendly license that is incompatible with the Apache license.  http://santos.cis.ksu.edu/KSUSourceAcademicLicense.shtml appears to be the latest home of the license.
