[jira] Created: (NET-228) CMS under z/VM does not seem to be supported.

JIRA jira@apache.org
CMS under z/VM does not seem to be supported.
---------------------------------------------

                 Key: NET-228
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NET-228
             Project: Commons Net
          Issue Type: Improvement
Environment: Known on Linux - will probably be present on all OSes.
            Reporter: Richard Cebula
            Priority: Minor

The issue occurs when I try and use the FTP task in Ant.  I have already raised an issue with the Ant people and they say that the operating system does not seem to be supported by commons-net.
The OS in question is CMS Version 20 running under z/VM Version 5 release 2.0.

When using Apache Ant's FTP task, I receive the following error:

Rory Winston commented on NET-228:
----------------------------------

I dont know anything about this OS (an IBM mainframe OS, by the looks of it).

There may not be a compatible parser for this in [net]. Would an AS/400 FTP parser work with this OS? An MVS parser?

Anybody know anything about this OS?

Sebb commented on NET-228:
--------------------------

Have you tried using the following attribute?

        systemTypeKey

Supported values are "UNIX", "VMS", "WINDOWS", "OS/2", "OS/400", "MVS".

This will override the autodetection, which is presumably where the error is occurring.

Sebb updated NET-228:
---------------------

    Component/s: FTP

> CMS under z/VM does not seem to be supported.
> ---------------------------------------------
>
>                 Key: NET-228
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NET-228
>             Project: Commons Net
>          Issue Type: Improvement
>          Components: FTP
>         Environment: Known on Linux - will probably be present on all OSes.
>            Reporter: Richard Cebula
>            Priority: Minor
>
> The issue occurs when I try and use the FTP task in Ant.  I have already raised an issue with the Ant people and they say that the operating system does not seem to be supported by commons-net.
> The OS in question is CMS Version 20 running under z/VM Version 5 release 2.0.
> When using Apache Ant's FTP task, I receive the following error:
> Apache Ant version 1.7.0 compiled on June 17 2008
> Apache Ant version 1.7.0 compiled on June 17 2008
